Feedback – ‘An Indian Example Nigeria Can Replicate’

There have been a lot of comments on the recent article written by MKPE ABANG ‘An India Example Nigeria Can Replicate’, published in the March 2016 edition of IT & Telecom Digest (print and online).

Here are some of the comments:

Mkpe, I see your point made. Having lived in Nigeria and India and worked in Power Sector in Nigeria for over a decade, I believe the idea to get an able candidate like Mr Piyush Goyal will not work unless the Government in Nigeria is willing to look at the Power sector as the key for advancement.

Lots of consultants from India, China, Europe and the US have visited Nigeria and spent time; but the result has been a shame as there has been NO ACTION.

We have local talented consultants who know the problems in Nigerian Power sector but the will to get away these problems is in the hands of government.

So no more external consultants or case studies are needed. The problem can and should be solved indigenously.

Mkpe, good piece. I like the key point you made that energy sector is expanded beyond thermal and gas energy. But, our leaders see power in terms of megawatts generated. The issue of alternative or renewable energy for power generation is where government should be focusing now.

Thank you for your comments Vinay. Nigerians & Nigerian government need to realise (and) understand that it’s our choices that determine the direction.

Nice Article. Thank you Mr Abang. Nigeria’s power sector has its own specifics which require Nigerian solutions. Mr Goyal is competent, but he is no magician! In any case, the situation is stubborn; it has many facets from non-availability of gas to high cost of capital and it would be futile to expect quick linear fixes.
