NOW! Introducing IT & TELECOM DIGEST ONLINE

IT & TELECOM DIGEST (http://www.ittelecomdigest.com) is the foremost and most authoritative magazine on the Information and Communications Technology industry in Africa. Published   in Nigeria, it caters to the interest of the entire African continent.

It is a must read for investors, experts, governments, academia and everyone with interest in ICT in Africa. IT & Telecom Digest, published since January 2000, has created opportunities and helped raise awareness for the industry to an all-time high.

In May 2003 the magazine won the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa first prize Award on Reporting ICT Research and Innovation in the first African Information Society Initiative (AISI) Media Awards by the UN ECA. The magazine is the de facto voice and official magazine/media partner for all serious ICT shows – exhibitions, seminars, conferences – in Nigeria; and most in Africa.

It is the only ICT magazine in Africa in which Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, as Secretary-General of the ITU contributed a special article (the special edition for the ITU TELECOM AFRICA 2001 which held in Johannesburg, South Africa.). In November 2004, IT & Telecom Digest was also the only magazine invited to observe the proceedings of the UN ICT Task Force 7th Meeting in Berlin, Germany (the first of its meetings to be held outside the UN Headquarters).

IT & Telecom Digest is Official Media Partner to Informa Telecoms & Media (organisers of Com World series); as well as being the Sole Nigeria Agent to Exhibition Management Services (Pty) of South Africa, organisers of the West African International Telecommunications and Information Communications Technology Exhibition (W.Afri.Tel).

In December 2009, IT & Telecom Digest entered into a strategic partnership agreement with the UK-based Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation to collaborate for conferences, exhibitions in the ICT arena organised by either party for the mutual benefit of the Commonwealth States, of which Nigeria is a member. IT & Telecom Digest now organises the West African ICT Congress (www.westafricanictcongress.com) in conjunction with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (www.cto.int).

The Nigerian based monthly magazine is a must read for decision makers, industry operators, the academia, professionals and investors has been described as the ‘Voice of Africa’s ICT industry.’

In the year 2002, IT & Telecom Digest instituted the Nigerian Information Technology and Telecom Awards (NITTA), the benchmark for measuring performance and rewarding enterprise, quality of service delivery and promotion of healthy competition in the ICT sector. NITTA holds yearly, and attracts the cream of the industry and government. The entire ICT industry in Nigeria looks forward to NITTA each year with great excitement. The magazine also initiated the Stakeholders’ Forum.

Besides initiating the West African ICT Congress (WAFICT), which holds alongside W.Afri.Tel of which the magazine is Sole Nigeria Agent, the forward-looking magazine recently instituted the African Telecom Hall of Fame Lecture Series as well as the African Telecom Hall of Fame Awards.

As the leading agenda setter, IT & Telecom Digest was prophetic in August 2004 when it stated that at the end of the five-year exclusivity for mobile operators in Nigeria the country would adopt Unified Licensing Regime. This came to pass as the regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission, introduced the scheme in 2006, thereby confirming IT & Telecom Digest’s status as the authoritative, professional and factual magazine with foresight.

Since January 2000, IT & TELECOM DIGEST has laid emphasis on the print edition, publishing monthly.
